At R-SYS, excellence in aviation technology is not just about what we build — it is about how we build it. As a developer of advanced ATM/ANS systems, we are committed to meeting the highest European regulatory standards. We are therefore pleased to announce that R-SYS is currently in the final phase of obtaining the Design and Production Organisation (DPO) approval issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), with certification expected in Q2 2026.
What Is DPO Certification?
DPO approval, established under Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1769, is EASA’s formal recognition that a manufacturer of ATM/ANS systems has the organisational maturity, processes, and technical capability to design and produce safe, compliant aviation equipment. Certified organisations can apply for ATM/ANS equipment certification, classify design changes, issue declarations of design compliance, and deliver equipment directly to Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) under an EASA release.
For ANSPs, this translates into reduced administrative burden, faster procurement, and greater confidence in the products they deploy. For manufacturers, it enables a single compliance demonstration valid across the entire EU market and simplifies future product updates within an already approved framework.
DPO is not merely a competitive advantage — for organisations covered by Regulation (EU) 2023/1769, it is a regulatory requirement, with full compliance mandated no later than September 2028.
R-SYS and DPO
R-SYS entered the DPO certification process in 2024, driven by our commitment to product quality and customer trust. On 18 February 2025, an important step in the certification process took place — a kick-off meeting at EASA headquarters in Cologne, Germany, where we introduced R-SYS, our solutions, and our development approach to EASA representatives. The certification covers three core areas:
- A – Management processes: Governance, quality management, and organisational oversight.
- B – Product production processes: Design, development, verification, and production workflows.
- C – Information security: Cybersecurity practices within organisational processes, design and production environment.
Throughout the process, R-SYS has maintained close cooperation with EASA, ensuring our compliance demonstration is thorough and fully aligned with regulatory expectations.

Looking Ahead
DPO certification will formally confirm R-SYS as a manufacturer meeting the highest European regulatory standards for ATM/ANS systems. For our customers, it means an even stronger assurance of safety, quality, and compliance. For R-SYS, it opens the door to broader EU market opportunities and a deeper partnership with EASA and the wider European aviation community.
We look forward to sharing the final outcome very soon.
